I would love to be artistic.  My most recent endeavour was an acrylic I painted for my daughter’s bedroom of a pink jellyfish. I thought it was excellent and in fact, the colours were beautiful and picked up a lot of pink colours in the room.  My daughter said that she thought it was “cute” but preferred it not on her wall.  Well, it is on the wall and it is certainly something she can remember me by when I am long gone.

Some people are seriously artistically talented though and I would like to discuss mosaic artists today.  A number of mosaic artists, mosaicists regularly use our tiles for their work.  They craft the most beautiful pieces, like table tops, floors, barbecue benches, waterfalls and more by using broken tiles all stuck together to form pattens or designs.  Some of these artists work with only a couple of colours, say blue and white and use a variety of our broken blue and white tiles.  Others are more eclectic in their approach and seemingly randomly place tiles of different shapes, sizes and colours to create amazing pieces.  This is not only creative but is a sustainable approach to using broken tiles.  They add character and artistry to your home, outdoor area or garden.  One interesting project I have been part of is glueing broken tile pieces into a winding whimsical garden pathway. I have customers who decorate flowerpots to create a splash and to house their little pot plants in unique vessels.  Tables, benches, stools or  really any piece of furniture is great. An outdoor water feature is also a beautiful place to display the results of your artistic skills.

We accumulate broken tiles so that from time to time we can sell them to our mosaic artist customers. Ask us if you are interested. Please email us on customerservice@oldworldtiles.com.au.
