Stair Risers
Using tiles on stair risers can be a fantastic way to add character and style to a staircase, whether it be for inside or outside.
One thing to consider is the height of your stair riser. If you are using our Classic tiles which are approximately 107mm high, you may need to use 1.5 tiles high, or you may want to use only 1 tile high with a contrasting solid coloured tile to fill the difference in height or you may want to simply paint the untiled part of the riser in the same colour as the stair tread. We have seen all of these variations used with great results. Our Portuguese tiles are 140mm high and the Spanish tiles are 150mm high. We would be happy to advise you.
To choose the tiles that you want to use you should decide upon a style and colour theme. For example, you may want to go for the Moroccan or Spanish look to create a vibrant and exotic impact with the beautifully patterned tiles. You may be seeking a Mediterranean feel, so that each time you walk up your stairs you can almost see the beautiful deep blue sea. Using tiles on stair risers is especially popular for outdoor stairs or entryway staircases. You may decide that geometric or minimalist patterns are more your style and we certainly have great patterns for this too. Some people love using a mix of patterns for an eclectic and artistic style. Tiles in a more subtle colour or in one design create a classic impact which will last forever.
Tiles on stair risers add personality and a unique character to your home or business, making you stand out from the crowd with your design. They make an excellent DIY project or professional upgrade to elevate any staircase and we can offer a wide variety of alternatives for any taste.
